The 2002 LifeRing Congress and Me

How can I participate in the 2002 LifeRing Congress? Here’s a personal checklist.

I go to LifeRing meetings. I can be elected a voting delegate to the Congress. I can cast one vote, at the LifeRing meeting of my choice, to elect a delegate to the Congress. The Congress is the highest governing body of LifeRing Secular Recovery.
I go to LifeRing meetings and have more than two years clean and sober. I can stand for election to the LifeRing Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is answerable to the LifeRing Congress and serves the organization between Congresses.
I want to meet more LifeRing people. At the 2002 Congress I can meet and socialize with LifeRing participants, their families and friends, from different parts of the county and abroad. I look forward to the informal fellowship and poetry readings and musical entertainment Saturday night March 16.
I want to become more educated about my recovery issues and to get a deeper understanding of the LifeRing approach to sobriety. At the 2002 LifeRing Congress I can attend workshops and hear speakers on Saturday March 16 and spend time around people who are staying clean and sober the LifeRing way. It’ll strengthen my sobriety.
I’m a treatment professional or in school learning about addiction. At the LifeRing Congress on Saturday March 16 I can hear fresh new perspectives on the treatment profession and learn how to offer my patients/clients a broader range of choices. With more choices there can be more recoveries.
I’ve done all my recovery in AA/NA, but I’m curious to find out about "other ways to skin the cat." At the 2002 LifeRing Congress on Saturday March 16 I can hear speakers, meet people, and take part in discussions to get my questions answered.
I’m a Bay Area resident and I have a spare bedroom /couch /floor space and would be willing to put up a Congress visitor from out of town on Friday night March 15 and/or Saturday night March 16. I’ll contact the LifeRing Service Center at 510-763-0779 and volunteer my hospitality.
My Significant Other is interested in learning about other ways to do recovery. If we attend the 2002 LifeRing Congress together we’ll both have a better idea of whether the LifeRing approach would fit our needs and wants.
I’m a musician or other entertainer and I’d love to perform a number for the Congress attendees. Performing sober for a sober audience would be good for my recovery. I’ll contact the LifeRing Service Center at 510-763- 0779 to volunteer to do entertainment after the Saturday night banquet.
I’ve got some interesting personal experience and done some serious study about a specific recovery topic, and I’d like to lead a workshop at the Congress during the daytime on Saturday March 16. I’ll phone the LifeRing Service Center at 510-763-0779 to volunteer.
I’m a LifeRing meeting convenor and I’m going to announce the Congress to my meeting, explain how LifeRing’s democratic process works, and hold an election for Congress Delegate. I will contact the LifeRing Service Center before February 1, 2002, to identify the name, address and phone number of my meeting’s elected Delegate.
I’m a LifeRing meeting convenor and I need copies of the LifeRing Bylaws so that I can explain how LifeRing’s democratic process works. I’m going to phone the LifeRing Service Center at 510-763-0779 and order more Bylaws booklets, or I'll download a set.
I’m a sober and reliable person and I’d like to help out with Congress arrangements, publicity, or whatever other work needs to be done, either on the Congress weekend itself (March 15-16-17 2002) or ahead of time. I’ll phone the LifeRing Service Center at 510-763-0779 to volunteer.
