Everyone interested in recovery is invited to the 2002 LifeRing Congress, March 15-16-17 2002, in Berkeley CA.  There'll be a full day of recovery workshops open to the public on Saturday March 16 at the conference center in Alta Bates Hospital, 2450 Ashby Avenue, in Berkeley.

Alta Bates Hospital, Berkeley CA
The premier private hospital on the east side of San Francisco Bay, Alta Bates Medical Center, Ashby Campus, has an excellent conference facility on the street floor.  Wheelchair accessible.  Ample parking -- discount parking available for event.*  Close to public transportation.

*Discount parking for event:  Purchase 3-hour garage sticker for $2 at registration desk.  Tickets can be combined.  Normal garage rate without sticker is $0.90 / half hour, $12 all day.  Go ahead and park first, then purchase discount sticker(s) at LifeRing registration desk.  Apply sticker to garage ticket and pay discount rate on the way out.  Discount stickers are valid only at the big garage opposite the main hospital entrance. 

Lodging

Hotels:  The conference venue is approx. 1 mile from the University of California campus and from downtown Berkeley.  The area features hotels, motels, bed&breakfasts of every price range and a YMCA.  Click for lists.

Member Hospitality:  A limited number of visitors may find lodging in Bay Area LifeRing participants' homes.  Contact the Hospitality Coordinator

Travel

Airlines:  Great bargains available, reserve early.  Try Travelocity, Lowestfare, Expedia, Cheaptickets, Orbitz, Southwest Airlines for starters. 

The nearest airport is Oakland (OAK), but San Francisco (SFO) is only 24 miles away.  SJC airport (San Jose CA) is 45 mi away and could save you money.
