The annual LifeRing Congress is
the event of the year for LifeRing participants. Three
things happen at this gathering:
- Socializing: Meet
your online friends, make new friends, get closer with people
from far away, enjoy yourself, have a good time -- all clean
and sober among people who understand;
- Education: Learn from the
guest speakers, get CEUs, swap recovery tools and best convenor
practices, get up to date on the latest recovery news;
- Self-Government: Report
the state of your meeting, discuss and decide organizational
policy issues, elect members to the Board of Directors.
This year the Congress is in
historic
Guelph, Ontario, Canada, on the
University of Guelph
campus. The dates: Friday evening April 29, all day
Saturday April 30, Sunday morning May 1, 2005. Thanks to
the generosity of a number of Canadian and US contributors, the
full ticket price is only $69 U.S. / $85 Canadian. To hear
the Saturday speakers only, the price is only $12 U.S. / $15
Canadian. You can
register online in just a few clicks using your Visa or
MasterCard.
The University of Guelph also
offers a range of lodging options on
campus. You can stay for as little as US$ 34.00 a night
(including tax and breakfast) in a student dorm, or you can choose from a range of
more luxurious on-campus or off-campus digs. The Saturday
night banquet -- check out the
menu! -- is included in the ticket price. You can get
your other meals economically from
your choice of local restaurants.

Special Pre-Congress
Workshop
Solution-Focused Interviewing, with Ronald E. Warner
A two-day skills workshop for
lay persons and professionals.
Solution-Focused Interviewing (SFI), adapted from the
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy model, is a set of interpersonal
helping skills and strategies that engages clients in discovering
how their strengths and resources can be marshalled to find
solutions to their psychosocial difficulties. SFI training addresses solutions rather
than problems by emphasizing client strengths, competencies, and
possibilities rather than weaknesses, deficits, and limitations.
