A Few Choice Words

On this day, those gathered here

Free from drugs and free from fear

Make a path, construct a plan,

So all our brothers and sisters can…

Have a way, have a choice

Other than an anguished voice

Crying out for help in vain

And sinking in depression and pain.

A self-help program for all in need

A way to life for those who heed

For brothers and sisters far and near

A guiding star by which to steer

Self-help is tenet one

Ownership of recovery begun

Secularity is number two

No prejudice for me or you

Sobriety Priority is number three

Choose to be completely free

Gather together all of you

And, to one another be true

Take this solemn vow today

That when you leave and go your way,

You will spread the words of hope

So those in agony won’t have to grope

Be proud of this, that you have done

And watch this golden rising sun.

And laugh and cry and sing,

And embrace this awesome LifeRing
