The Eagles in the Nest

The sun creeps up
The sky transmutes to blue
Some would be swayed
But is it true?
Can I fly too?
Perhaps I’ll just stretch out
Here on this limb
The limb is safe
At least to the others
Who ventured out there
Those new like me
They’re out on the limb

I hope they don’t jump
Just leave me and fly
With me here so anxious
And desperately alone
What will I do?
When my house isn’t my home
Now that my siblings have roamed
And winter coming
And, and the complete unknown?

Okay, okay, here I go
Oh, not just yet
Please get me out of this
I just want to stay home!
No, life’s not this hard
I’ve got wings
And here I go
Next thing I’m sailing
On the winds that flow
Flowing like I never, ever imagined they’d go
Yes! This is freedom
From that constricting limb
Why didn’t I see it?
What quandary was I in?
Oohhh, foresight!
When you blew me off that branch
I thank you now
I wouldn’t have taken that chance
But isn’t that the way
Of all we perchance?
